I’m finally shooting some fashion stuff again. It’s been forever! Lately I’ve just been doing portraits and a few paid gigs and such, so it’s nice to be working on my own stuff again and collaborating with fashion people. Speaking of collaborating, I’ve been working with a friend/designer on some collaborations, both of us need to update our portfolios so it’s the perfect mix, plus we seem to have very similar aesthetics (Thank God!) Here’s a few photos I shot this weekend with Tori, another friend of mine who stepped in at the last minute to model. (Again, thank god, cuz she was GREAT!)
For this shoot we decided to revisit the Mod era, (since it’s HUGE right now and I didn’t really get what I wanted the last time I shot.) We wanted to have a similar feel and style to 1960’s mod, but with our own twist on it. So I hope that comes though in the pics. More pics to come as soon as I have time to edit them. (which PS I forgot how much editing my own work is a total bitch and takes me forever because I’m never satisfied)
Quick rundown of what’s going on in this pic.
I just bleached out my hair. and toned it to be a BIT too purple. but i kinda liked it. so I figured I’d do a quick shoot.
Unfortunately my camera battery is dying and I accidentally left my battery charger (and spare battery) at my neighbors house… So I got about 10 shots before my battery died..
I also am currently planning a futuristic photo shoot where a big inspiration is Blade Runner. I really love the whole “makeup in place of a mask” type thing and there’s a character in blade runner who has.. well… I guess it’s basically just black chole smudged around her/his? whatever it is’s eyes. While this wont be the makeup for the shoot, I thought i’d try my hand at a makeup mask type thing and this is what I came up with.
Finally I wanted to practice my skin softening editing. This is by no means perfect, and I still need to get a better work flow, since I started editing the skin and then wanted to adjust the proportions of my face, but part of skin softening (at least for me) is creating multiple layers and changing the opacity of the layers to have some of the texture of the skin come through… and… well… when your multiple layers have different face shapes.. it doesn’t work too well… but eh. what the hell. here’s my end result after about… eh. 40 minutes of editing?
okok. so this isn’t the best photo i’ve ever shot. not my favorite photoshoot. but i figured i’d post a before and after. since i did so much editing to this to make it at least something i’m interested in looking at. By the time we shot this photo i’m pretty sure we were all exhausted. the model was sick, and it was almost 11 pm or something.
aaannnd. one more set.
Some of my favorites from my friend Gabby’s wedding
Can’t decide at the moment.
